The project objective was to promote sustainable development and social cohesion in Mediterranean cities through
- the creation of three new City Development Strategies in the cities of Sousse (Tunisia), Saida (Lebanon) and Larnaka (Cyprus),
- and the creation of a network of cities interested in building and implementing urban sustainable development strategies.
Three Knowledge Transfer Centres were established in order to disseminate urban strategic thinking in the region and to identify Best Practices that could be useful for other cities.
USUDS entailed cooperation between cities to strengthen their medium and long-term management capabilities. Through a decentralized structure of management, the project sought to strengthen networking and cooperation among partners.
Cities participated sharing their best practices while creating and developing their city development strategies. USUDS project promoted knowledge and practical exchange between cities in order to empower them in their own development process.
